Join us at the Orcas Senior Center for a special reading by Nancy Wang from her novel Red Altar.
Red Altar tells the story of three generations of a family who helped establish the fishing industry in Monterey Bay, California, beginning in 1850. Through perseverance and ingenuity, they navigated the harsh realities of systemic racism, ultimately finding ways to thrive. Their journey of resilience and reinvention offers an inspiring lens into the struggles and triumphs of immigrant families—whether arriving in recent decades or as far back as the 1600s. Copies of Red Altar will be available for purchase at the event.
