SUMMARY:Create Fidget Quilts with Brenda Bacon at Orcas Senior Center
DESCRIPTION:Join Brenda Bacon for a hands-on Fidget Quilt workshop at the Orcas Senior Center. Brenda will provide sewing machines and materials to help participants create these special tactile quilts designed for individuals with dementia. \nFidget quilts are small\, interactive quilts featuring zippers\, Velcro\, buttons\, and other textured elements that help keep hands engaged. Common materials include buttons\, zippers\, fabric patches\, pockets\, lace\, ribbons\, key fobs\, small stuffed animals\, crocheted doilies\, and various textured fabrics such as Minky\, velvet\, and faux fur. \nBrenda will supply some materials to get started\, but donations of additional items are welcome. Handouts and sample quilts will be available for inspiration. Attend one or both sessions\, and if there is enough interest\, additional classes may be scheduled. \nCome and enjoy a creative and meaningful sewing experience while making a difference in the lives of those with dementia!
